Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has reflected on his resignation from the club with a sense of pride, describing his tenure with the Porcupine Warriors as a successful and fulfilling chapter.

Zito revealed that his decision to step down followed discussions with the club’s management, but he emphasised that he leaves with his head held high, satisfied with his contributions to the Kumasi-based side.

In an interview with Asempa FM, he said, “I resigned from my position following a meeting with management, but I am a happy man. I remain a legend of the club.”

Appointed last year, Zito oversaw 37 competitive matches, achieving 19 wins, 11 draws, and seven defeats. Under his guidance, Kotoko demonstrated defensive resilience with 19 clean sheets, conceded just 31 goals, and netted 50 in attack.

His stint was marked by silverware, with the team capturing four trophies: the MTN FA Cup, Super Cup, Toyota Cup in South Africa, and the President’s Cup, cementing his tenure as one of the most productive in recent club history.

Zito also extended his gratitude to Kotoko fans, acknowledging their support during his brief but impactful spell.

“I want to thank Asante Kotoko supporters for their support. I coached the club for barely one year and was able to win four trophies for the team,” he said.

His departure closes a chapter defined by discipline, success, and a legacy he believes will continue to resonate at Asante Kotoko.
