Head coach of Asante Kotoko SC Abdul Karim Zito has declared Heart of Lions clash as must win for his side in the Ghana Premier League.

The Kpando based club will be hosting the porcupines at the Kpando stadium on January 31st, 2026 in week 21 fixture.

Lions have recorded just a win in their last ten games in the ongoing 2025/26 season.

The Kumasi based club will be visiting Kpando with a major boost after beating Holy Stars 3-0 in their last game at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Coach Zito speaking to the club media said, “the only thing we have to do is to play and win. After the first round we hope for the second round but after the second we don’t have any hope again,we are going all out and is a must win game for us”

“So we are working towards that and we are working with a positive mentality in this second round [because] anything can happen but we are going with the mentality of winning.

“We have to forget about the past and think about the present because in football anything can happen and it all depends on the mentality you are going in to the game with so we are forgetting about the difficulty and we are going in to play a game.

“We want to come out with a nice game and win the game because we are going in with the present situation to go and win” he added.

Asante Kotoko are in third on the league standings with 35 points while Heart of Lions sit 7th with 27 points after 20 league games.
